CRESTLINE, Calif., July 24 (Inland Empire News Online) — A black bear pushed open the front door of the Crestline Village Water District office in the San Bernardino Mountains on Wednesday afternoon, walked into the lobby and then briefly into the main office before leaving without injuring anyone or causing damage, according to district video and staff accounts.

The bear entered around 12:15 p.m. and spent about two minutes in the front area before moving deeper into the office for only a few seconds, office manager Josselyn Quine said in statements quoted by CBS Los Angeles and USA Today. Staff said there were no customers in the office at the time.

Quine said the bear left nose prints on the doors but did not damage the building. Employees watched it calmly head back toward the woods, according to the district video and witness accounts reported by KTLA and NBC Los Angeles.

Quine said the encounter was startling but brief. “Everyone was safe, and the bear was on his way,” she said in a statement quoted by USA Today.

The incident took place at the Crestline Village Water District office in Crestline, a mountain community in San Bernardino County in the Inland Empire.
