PRIMM, NEVADA, July 23 (Vegas News Online) — Terrible’s reopened Primm Valley Casino on July 22 in Primm, Nevada, bringing the gaming floor back online just 17 days after the Las Vegas-based company took control.

The reopening matters because Primm sits on Interstate 15 at the California-Nevada line, a stop for drivers moving between Southern California and Las Vegas. For years, the casino complex has been one of the most visible parts of that border-town corridor.

What is open now?

Terrible’s said the reopened casino includes 422 gaming machines, 250 hotel rooms, a William Hill sportsbook, a sports bar and a 24-hour quick-bites restaurant.

The company also said it is eliminating resort fees and will match rewards tiers already earned by returning customers.

Resort fees are extra nightly charges hotels often add on top of the room rate. Dropping them can make a stay easier to price and compare.

Terrible’s said new promotions and rewards began on reopening day, and that more dining options were already being planned.

How did the takeover happen?

In June, Terrible’s and the Primm family reached a reported operating deal for Primm Valley Resort and Casino and related properties. The Nevada Gaming Control Board approved Terrible Herbst’s application on June 25.

Affinity Interactive, the previous operator, said Terrible’s took over management of the Primm Center, Chevron Gas Station, Flying J, Whiskey Pete’s Travel Store, the Lotto Store and Starbucks on July 1. Affinity said those businesses reopened by July 2. It also said the gaming-property management transfer was completed at 12:01 a.m. on July 5.

Who was there for the reopening?

Terrible’s said the reopening included a brief ceremony and remarks from Terrible’s executives and Corey Clemetson, who was identified as the grandson of Primm founder Ernie Primm.

Why does Primm keep coming up in Las Vegas-area gaming news?

Primm is a small border community that depends on highway traffic. When its casinos open or close, the effects are felt by travelers heading to and from Las Vegas as well as by workers and visitors in the area.

For now, the main takeaway is simple: after a rapid ownership change, Primm Valley Casino is back open, and Terrible’s is trying to make the property more appealing with fewer added fees and more on-site amenities.
