NEWARK, N.J., July 17 (Nationwide Times) — Panasonic is recalling about 13,664 electric toaster ovens in the U.S. and Canada after regulators said a cord insulation problem could create shock and fire risks for shoppers who bought the appliances online at Amazon, Costco and other sites.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the recall covers Panasonic model NB-G200 ovens. The agency said the stainless steel units have the Panasonic name on the front and a temperature knob on the bottom.
The commission said the power cord insulation may be insufficient because a protective fiberglass sleeve may not fully cover the cord. The ovens were sold from October 2024 through April 2026 for about $170.
The CPSC said it had received four consumer reports of tripped circuit breakers or outlets and one report that the product stopped working. No fires or injuries have been reported.
Panasonic’s Costco member letter, issued by Panasonic Corporation of North America, said Costco records show some members bought Item #2024930 between February 2026 and April 2026. The company told customers to stop using the ovens and return them either to Panasonic for a refund or to a Costco Warehouse Customer Service Window for a full refund.
The recall affects shoppers who bought the ovens through Amazon.com, Costco.com, Panasonic.com and other online sellers nationwide.
