VICTORVILLE, Calif., July 17 (High Desert News Online) — Costco food courts in California have started serving chicken strips, a new $6.99 menu item that comes with five pieces and sauce and has replaced the calzone at some stores.

Workers at Costco locations in Alhambra, Los Feliz and along Rosedale Highway in Bakersfield said the item appeared July 11. A Santa Rosa employee said it arrived July 6, and a Concord worker said it had been on the menu for a few days by July 15.

Menu signs list the order at 1,130 to 1,640 calories, depending on the location. In Victorville, the Costco warehouse at 14555 Valley Center Drive is also serving the item.

The new offering gives Costco members another food court option as the warehouse chain updates one of its most watched menus. The item is described on some signs as chicken tenders and on others as chicken strips, but the price and five-piece order are the same in the California locations checked.
